Lesley Ruda

Born in Zimbabwe Lesley lived in London from the early 70’s until moving to San Francisco in 1990’s. She now lives and works in the Bay Area and spends time in England and France.

Lesley’s versatility as fine artist, decorative painter, illustrator and teacher make her work diverse and unusual. Drawing on her education as a fine artist, she delivers a high level of technique and finish to her hand painted furniture and murals, particularly making creative use of recycled furniture and found objects.

The story, or narrative, welding the decorative elements together is immensely important to her; what is unusual, perhaps, is the degree to which her craft always comes in to support her art. – Paintwise (1991) and Painting Furniture (1991) by Jocasta Innes.

Lesley produces work for sale (Gallery) or can collaborate on your projects, whether it is transforming your furniture, creating a custom mural, a special gift, or custom painting for any decorative or fine arts projects. Sold in fine arts venues, designer showrooms, or by commission, her work is highly collectible as functional or decorative art.

Lesley is currently writing and illustrating a children's book, and designing a series of production artworks for children, including growth charts. If you'd like news of these please join the mailing list.
